Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Hacks

September 6, 2019

It’s that time of year again: the After Party Sale is upon us! Which also means there are approximately 8.5 million blog posts about how to shop the sale & this year I’m in that bunch! Y’all have probably read most of these tips, but I’m hoping there’s a few in here that you haven’t heard of before. So let’s jump in!

If you’re a seasoned APS shopper, you already know what this sale is all about & when it starts (& honestly probably have a countdown clock & no less than 6 alarms already set). But for those of you newbies, I’ll give you the CliffsNotes version. The AP sale starts online officially on Monday, September 9th at 8am, but will kick off a little early in brick-and-mortar stores on Saturday September 7th. The LP brand does 2 big sales a year on their website, one at the beginning of the year & the other at the end of summer. However, this is just the official sale online & in stores nationwide. However, this isn’t the ONLY time you can score Lilly on sale (my local Belk regularly has a Lilly sale rack & if you’re in/near the Knoxville area, Palm Village Knoxville has AMAZING sales. The After Party Sale is just the biggest one of the year & things can get a little competitive. So if you’re looking for a specific piece, just follow these tips & you’ll have a much better chance of scoring most (& sometimes all!) of your wishlist.

Create an account on the Lilly site ahead of time. Go ahead & save your address & payment info at this time as well & stay logged in. Having your payment info already on your account will save you valuable time during check out. As most of us know, just because an item is in your cart, doesn’t mean it will be there when it’s time to check out. So anything to shave off precious seconds from the process could mean the difference between scoring that shift in your size & seeing it fly out of your cart as “sold out” in a hot minute.

Shop the sale early (if you can). If you live near a store that sells LP, I would check those out first. You may have a better chance of scoring your wishlist items in-store than fighting the millions of people shopping the online sale. Plus, you get the added bonus of trying on items in-store (& APS stuff is all-sales-final)!

Be ready to go before the sale goes live and DO NOT REFRESH your browser once you are loaded into the virtual queue. I'm usually logged on and waiting well before 8AM and I keep refreshing until I get entered into the virtual line. But once you get that notice that you are number 12,583 in line, don't refresh or it will put you to the very back of the line again.

Use multiple devices. The more places you are logged in from, the more times you are waiting in line. So you could shop from your phone and your laptop and iPad theoretically all at once. You may want to enlist the help of a friend or S.O. as well, so they can grab things for you & dump them into your online cart. Which brings me to my biggest tip for getting the things you want...

Check out FAST! Just because something is sitting in your cart, doesn't mean it will still be there when you are ready to check out. I have done multiple checkouts to guarantee this, because stuff sells out FAST (& all items in the APS ship free! So there isn't really a downside to multiple checkouts except having to wait a while to receive packages). I think you get placed back in the virtual queue once you check out though, so this is why you want multiple devices set up. Once you check out on your laptop, if you've been waiting in line on your phone, you can then go right back in when your next turn pops up.

Shop with a purpose! Have a list of items ready to go and start hunting for those online in the sale. If you spend too much time browsing, things will start to sell out and you may miss out on some great deals.

Shop the sale from other sites! The LP site will definitely have the biggest selection, but places like Amazon, Zappos and 6pm.com also regularly participate in the sale. So be sure to check out those as well if something is already gone from the official Lilly site.

Please for the love of Lilly, don't panic, don't stress, and don't be rude (if you're shopping in-store). People get a little crazy during Lilly sales (in my experience), and things can get a little...cutthroat. At the end of the day, it's just clothes, so there's no reason to be elbowing someone out of the way (yes, that's happened before. UGH. #howrude) Even if you don't get something you had your eye on, there's a 50% chance it will show up months later at TJ Maxx, and a 100% chance it will be on Poshmark (eventually).

Have fun & happy shopping!!
