Pink Prep & Print Picks (say that 5 times fast)

June 5, 2019

Hey! Did you know this is part of a series? You can check out the other Pink Retreat posts here!

Did you know that June 21st, the first day of summer, is also National Wear Your Lilly Day? The countdown is on! I’m so excited to be celebrating this year by not only sporting my favorite Lilly look, but also with a girls getaway to Palm Beach for the Pink Retreat! This will be the 2nd year for the Pink Retreat, but a first for me (GASP! A trip to somewhere other than Disney!? Spoiler alert: keep reading…). I had so much FOMO last year, watching everyone’s stories from that weekend. However, I had more pressing matters to tend to (mom duty calls), so I was not able to make it, but I promised myself I would make it happen for 2019 and here we are!

You can definitely expect more in-depth details next month & a full rundown of the retreat, but basically it’s an unofficial Lilly Pulitzer convention where a bunch of us crazy LP fans (most whom have never met in person) descend upon Palm Beach & get together for a three day weekend of sun, sand, & Lilly fun (you can check out the official website here)! Unfortunately registration for 2019 has closed, but you can join the Facebook Group to stay updated for next year! And for those of you coming this year (hiiiiii!), be sure to check out my friend Jayme's unofficial guide to all things Pink Retreat, here!

There are several events that will be going on at this year’s retreat – everything from shopping trips & painting nights, to sunrise yoga & walking tours, all sprinkled with pool parties & cocktails in-between.

I’ll be heading down a day early (& extending the trip to include some Disney fun, because “when in Rome…”) so naturally, I will need 30 outfit changes & a gallon bag of accessories. Wish me luck as I attempt to cram an entire month’s worth of clothing into a tiny carry on! Yes ladies & gents, that is happening. No checking a bag for this Lilly-lady! For a weekend getaway centered around clothing, I’m just not taking the chance on my luggage getting lost.

But no worries if you're not Palm Beach bound anytime soon. You've got the chance to still look the part & win some fabulous Lilly prizes by entering an fun little giveaway Jayme & I are hosting right now, and you can check out the full details on my insta (the secret word is "sunny")! The prizes are amazing, and are sure to keep you in style this summer, no matter where your travels take you.

Speaking of clothing & fabulous style (wink wink), there are so many great Lilly prints & styles out there right now, but I’m trying to stay away from the shopping for the sake of my wallet. I’ve been stockpiling my Lilly since I first heard about the retreat last summer, so I’d say I’m pretty set on outfits. One of my favorites right now is the Pink Sunset Local Flavor Kinley dress. I had to take this one out for a spin at the Don Cesar, one of my favorite resorts (non-Disney, I might add). I won’t go into too much detail about the Don, but you can read a recap of this resort from this post I did last summer (hint: there’s frose!)

I was able to score this print in dress-form form for my daughter as well so we could Mommy-and-me it up at the Don. Yes, I’m that mom because pretty soon she is going to think matching her mom is super lame, so I have to get those annoyingly precious photo ops now (& remind myself how she once loved me, as I cry into my wine glass 13 years from now when she’s a moody emotional wreck of a teenage girl).

Usually I’m a “go big or go home” kind of person when it comes to accessories (loud earrings, funky footwear, & bold bags), but I kept the accessories light since the print speaks for itself (as with many-a-Lilly-prints). I opted instead to just add my pink heart sunglasses, trusty bow wedges, and oh look, there’s that bag again! Seriously you guys, this is THE bag. It goes with everything!

Some of my favorite prints are oldies-but-goodies, as well as some newer ones. If you’re looking to infuse your wardrobe with a little (ok a lot) of fun & color or still on the hunt for Pink Retreat outfits, here’s a few looks I put together for inspiration.

A lot of people think the high end Lilly Pulitzer brand is synonymous with equally high end prices, and if you’re buying direct from retail, you’re probably right. I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for Lilly, and tend to shop secondhand via Poshmark, Etsy, or eBay. I also shop the bi-annual After Party sales, and can sometimes also score deals at brick-and-mortar stores that sell Lilly when they’re swapping out seasons to make room for new incoming stock (or when the Belk employee has no idea what they’re doing and prices a $150 dress at $40 and they honor it. Score!) So be sure to do your Google due diligence first before paying full price for something you've fallen in love with! All those dollars you'll be saving is just more fuel to your future-Lilly-stockpile-fire (so you can be ready for with an arsenal of Lilly swag for next year's Pink Retreat!).

Stay tuned for more Pink Retreat posts coming soon!
