You’ve Got A Friend In Me: Disneybounding in Toy Story Land

March 2, 2019

By now you’ve probably heard that Toy Story 4 will be releasing soon, & if you’re like me who literally grew up with Andy & the gang, you’re probably pretty excited! So what better way to celebrate all of the epicness that is Toy Story than with a little toy themed post? (All about that timing!)

It’s no secret that I enjoy a good Disneybound, so when I was at Disney & was going to be checking out Toy Story land for the first time, I knew I had to do go all out. So my friends & I all decided to bound as various characters from the films.

I wasn't sure which character I wanted to do until I was inspired by a pair of electric blue heels with rainbow straps. As soon as I saw them, my mind instantly went to Barbie’s leggings. Can you see the resemblance?

From there, the rest of the pieces just came together. I wanted to loosely interpret Barbie’s signature look without being too literal or costumey, so I settled on a playful turquoise vintage dress (that has a bit of a seniorita vibe to it). I cinched it with a hot pink belt & added the “Nice ascot!” pin for flair. I added the shoes & did my hair in Barbie’s high pony & topped it off with some loud heart cateye glasses that just scream Barbie to me.

I can't find these exact shoes since they're last season, but I've put together a look with some similar pieces to keep the same overall vibe.

It was incredibly hot, but my outfit was surprisingly comfortable to walk around in (even the heels!) It was so cool wandering around TSL, feeling like a literal toy. While the land itself is rather small, there are so many little details all over this part of the park, & quite a lot to see & do. There are 2 new major attractions, plus the good ole’ Toy Story Mania of course, and plenty of photo spots! Be sure to stop by the popsicle stick wall at the exit of Toy Story Mania & snap a cute photo! Other noteworthy photo spots include the giant Luxo ball & the larger than life Woody right by the entrance to the land.

Kristen decided to bound as the aliens & put together an outfit in stunning blue, inspired by these little guys, who now have their own ride at TSL. Alien Swirling Saucers is a fun ride that whips you around to remixed Toy Story tunes but I wouldn’t wait more than 15 minutes for it (the real star of the show here is Slinky Dog Dash). Which brings us to our next bound...

Sam picked Slinky Dog & nailed it with this casual look. I don’t know where these shorts came from, but I want a pair. In every color. I mean, I’m Barbie after all, right?! (Or aspire to have a wardrobe like hers, at least). Slinky Dog Dash is a coaster that is just so much fun & 100% worth the long wait times. I’ve only ridden it during the day, but TSL really comes to life at night so it’s on my list to ride it after dark next!

All that excitement had our tummies rumblin’ so we hightailed it over to Woody’s lunchbox for the bougie poptarts (delicious, by the way). Their menu is full of so many yummy options; I can’t wait to go back & try a few more things.

I’m so glad I got to experience Toy Story Land with friends who a. share in my Disney enthusiasm (ok let’s call a spade a spade. Obsession.) & b. who were 100% on board with going all out with the bounding theme! There’s something about dressing for the occasion that just ups that magic factor. I’ll be back soon & may or may not be planning my next Toy Story bound (who am I kidding? I’m definitely already planning that!)
