Take Me To: The Grand Floridian

August 2, 2018

If there's one thing Disney knows how to do, it's a theme. From the south pacific vibes of the Polynesian to capturing the essence of an African wildlife reserve at Animal Kingdom Lodge, each of the resorts are themed so immersively that they transport you to another time & place. One of my favorite things to do (when I'm not going ropedrop-to-fireworks kind of hard at the parks) is explore the resorts and take in all they have to offer. For this series, I'll be collaborating with several different bloggers and Instagrammers & talking all about several of the different Disney properties. Each one offers so much to do throughout the day & into the night, and naturally, we'll be highlighting various looks for each, inspired by the resorts (because I also love a good theme)!

Our first stop in the resort hop is the Grand Floridian, covered by Lexie Brohl. Lexie runs both a YouTube channel and a blog (Breakfast at Disney! My Audrey-lovin' heart is obsessed with that!), and her look is all about melding whimsical style with soft femininity (think Cinderella meets Elle Woods). Pink is definitely the color of her soul - and for that, we're kindred spirits. She's put together a video highlighting her favorite parts of the Grand Floridian, as well as a look perfect for wandering the hotel.

Walking into the Grand Floridian, you instantly feel luxurious, sophisticated, and glamorous - like you should be sipping champagne, perched elegantly atop the grand piano in the lobby while Uncle Jessie serenades you (if you don't get that reference, we can't be friends). Lexie mentions a lot of the things I love about this resort - the shopping (Basin is a must-do), the food (namely the banana caramel Mickey waffles at GF Cafe), and just the level of attention to detail that was put into every facet of this hotel. The floors showcase characters and scenes from various Disney films and add such an elegant touch to something so ordinary (the GF is a mecca for #shoefies).

If you're looking for some magic during the day, post up in the lobby at 3:30pm and you're sure to catch a glimpse of the Princess Promenade, as the orchestra plays and a certain prince and princess make their way down the staircase for a fairytale waltz. After, head over to the cafe for the afternoon tea and have your fill of delicious scones & tea sandwiches. In the evenings, take a specialty cruise around Bay Lake or watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from various spots around the hotel. Cap your night with a cocktail from Mizner's Lounge on the 2nd floor, then hop on the monorail to continue your resort tour. All aboard! Next stop.....

  1. Oh my goodness I loved this post! I love that you said my style is like Cinderella meets Elle Woods! I never thought about it like that! 🙈 Also, I’ve never seen the Princess Promenade but I really want to, as well as dining at the GFC! It looks so good! I really enjoyed doing this collab with you and hope we can do another one sometime! 💖
