Good night, Sleeping Beauty!

For me, a strong night routine is essential for a good nights sleep - a queen needs her beauty rest after all! But sometimes the stress of the day has us wound too tight to let us sleep. There might be a million and one things left on your to-do list, but without taking care of yourself first, you won’t have the extra energy you need to tackle those ever-growing tasks.

Here’s my list of nightly rituals & tips that are sure to have you snoozing in no time, and leave you refreshed for the morning.



Kick things off with a bath. 
Go all in & give yourself an at-home spa night with the works: a cute robe (be extra & opt for that vintage 50s kimono. You know you want to), a glass of wine (or bottle. No judgement), and about 20 scented candles (is this a bathroom or a candlelight vigil?). Don’t forget your armory of bath products (if you didn’t use a bath bomb, did you even really take a bath?). My favorite bomb brand is Basin - probably because I buy about 10 every time I visit the location inside Grand Floridian so now baths with Basin bombs instantly remind me of Disney trips & some of their scents are divine! Lush is a VERY close second. I always have some B&BW shower gel on hand as well & use it very liberally.



Do a hair mask. 
My hair apparently gets great enjoyment out of tormenting me & is often tangled, frizzy & unruly. These rose hair treatments from Love Beauty & Planet have been a total lifesaver! You could probably get multiple uses out of one packet, but sometimes my hair is so knotted & banshee-like that I just have to assault it with the entire package. Just work it through your hair & then let it work it’s witchcraft on your tresses. Then rinse & repeat every few days for hair that will make even Rapunzel envious.



Girl, wash your face! 
Speaking of, that book is on my reading list, but seriously, please don’t sleep in your makeup. I know you’re one tired girlboss whose just had the day from hell (or a raucous & debaucherous wild night), but you don’t want those pores marinating in your caked-on makeup all night (you will wake up with a pizza face. Been there, got the T-shirt). I use a combo of micellar water & Basis face wash & if I’m feeling extra fancy, I’ll do a face treatment. I love the Freeman’s masks, especially "Dead Sea" variety. It will turn your face a lovely shade of smurf, but once you wash it off, it'll be as smooth as a baby smurf's bottom.

Moisturize! 
Your face gets thirsty too & sometimes just needs an extra boost. You don’t have to shell out $50 bucks for a good moisturizer either - you just have to find one that works for you. I personally love St. Ives because it’s cheap, it lasts, and it WORKS.


Brush those pearly whites. 
This is probably already part of your night (& morning) routine, but want to know how you can make this part even better - & honestly more fun!? Get yourself an electric toothbrush. I was never one to really buy in to the hype of electronic toothbrushes - until I tried one. I had always been a manual brusher, with a stockpile of the freebie brushes you get at every dentist visit. But after trying the cariPRO electric toothbrush by Smile Brilliant, I swear by it! Wind down. 
Now that you’ve washed (& brushed!) away the funk of the day (both literally & figuratively!), it’s time to climb in bed & let your mind power down. We’re all guilty of cramming in as much screen time as possible before bed, but it’s really better to put the phone away & pull out a book instead. Spend a little bit of time reading or even just lying in bed listening to relaxing music to let your mind slow down. If you must use your phone, put it to good use and download the "Breethe" app. It's full of calming meditations you can do before bed to help you relax (and the music makes you feel like you're at a spa). Then when you’re ready, turn off the light & let the sleepies take you...

...because after all, if you want to wake up like that, you have to go to bed like this!
