Hey Mickey!

October 2, 2018

It's that time of year again - one of my favorite fall (Instagram) traditions is participating in the Fall Into Disney Style Challenge. This is the 3rd year for the challenge, and hopefully the first time I might make it all the way through (I'll be happy if I make it through 2/3 of the prompts)! The rules are simple: there are none! You can get as creative as you want with the prompts and interpret them as you see fit (& don't forget to tag your photos with #fallintodisneystyle!)

I love seeing everyone's photos for this challenge, and it's just so much fun to participate in. If you're like me and don't live anywhere near the parks, this is a great way to feel that magic all month long.

For October 1st, we're kicking things off with Mickey Style and I'm killing 2 birds with 1 stone here by featuring the 2nd prompt at the same time, a Disney bag (hey look, I'm already 6% of the way through this challenge!). I love this prompt for so many reasons and think it's the perfect way to jumpstart the challenge. Mickey is so classic and transcends generations. November 18th marks Mickey's 90th birthday, so it's without a doubt the year of the mouse :) There are so many ways to infuse a little bit of Mickey magic into your everyday style, from the obvious choice of graphic tees, to the myriad of mouse merch available out there (bags, shoes, & ears, oh my!)

While I am all for full-throttle head-to-toe Mickey, I might look just a bit out of place in a Mickey jumper, Minnie ears, and my Danielle Nicole x Disney bag here in Chattanooga if I were just out for a casual lunch (so we'll save those fun outfits for the parks!) but I do love infusing elements into my every day wardrobe. For this look, I opted for a subtle Mickey Disneybound, inspired by his color palette, and I challenged myself to use things I already had in my wardrobe. While I love a shopping spree as much as the next gal, I'm all for reusing & repurposing existing pieces. Plus, that's an extra Starbucks I can treat myself to in celebration of saving some money! ;)

I feel so naked without my falsies on!!
Cold Shoulder Dress: Forever 21 (sold out); similar here & here

This look is so easy & simple to do and is centered around something most everyone already has in their closed - the little black dress. I love the ruffle off-the-shoulder look of this one, and think it adds some playfulness to the outfit, and I added the red belt as a nod to Mickey's shorts. For the shoes, I knew I had to go with my tried & true yellow wedges. I've worn them so many times with numerous outfits (like this jolly holiday Bert Disneybound and this cute summer lemon-print look), and was excited to get even more wear out of them. They're comfortable and 100% walkable. You can shop my exact wedges here (& on sale)!

Lace Up Espadrille Wedges - Go Jane

While the vibes of this outfit are very subtle, I had to top it off with a fun bag. I actually DIY'ed this one myself using patches and a bandana from the Target x Mickey collection, and you can read all about how to create your own here!

You could do this bag with any Disney patches you might have laying around your house or even use enamel pins instead. But if you're a little apprehensive to let you inner craft queen run amok with the glue gun, there are plenty of great Mickey bags out there available for purchase. My top picks include these cute crossbodies & a mini-backpack. All 3 options are great for toting around town and pull double duty as fun accessories for the parks on your next Disney vacation.

Clearly I'm excited for this challenge, but mostly just fall in general. Will you be participating and following along this month? Leave your handle or blog in the comments below & let me know!
