A Golden Afternoon

June 24, 2018

"You can learn a lot of things from the flowers
For especially in the month of June
There's a wealth of happiness and romance
All in the golden afternoon"

Nothing screams summer like bold, vibrant colors, and with summer officially here (though in TN, it's been summer for approximately 2 months now), it's time to bust out the neons. I'm all about that hot pink life, so this open back number pulls double duty as a breezy/functional top, as well as being perfect for a casual-dressy night out (is that a thing? I just made it a thing.) I was headed out for tacos & cocktails, so I wanted to look put together, but still comfortable - you know, like I actually put some effort into it - unlike most days where my uniform is more top knots & sweats, or literally just pajamas: a little too comfortable for a night out on the town. Somehow I don't think sauntering into a trendy downtown bar in satin strawberry PJs would turn heads in quite the way I want.

For this look, I paired the hot pink top with a white lace mini skirt to let it really pop, and I felt a bit like Alice against this literal wallflower mural. And what's a cute outfit without some accessories to top it off? When I found these gold palm leaf earrings, I knew they would go with so many outfits for summer. I opted for a comfortable chunky heeled sandal and a fun Old Navy clutch to complete the look. Then it was time for golden happy hour!

Channeling my inner pink flamingo with this pose!

After documenting our outfit deets (blogger life, what can I say?), we were off to a swanky little joint by the name of Nada for tacos. The guac is TO DIE FOR (seriously, don't come between me & my guac, guys), the tacos were superb, & the margaritas were flowing. I had photos, but they were only on my Instagram story, so just pretend this blank space is a foodporn worthy photo:

Then it was on to the real cocktails of Davidson County (we're back in Nashville again, folks). There's a new bar in town with total Miami vibes inside - the Flamingo Cocktail Club. We stopped by for a drink, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Coco Royale - a blend of gin, coconut, lemon, & violet. So...basically boozy flowers in a cup. Delicious! Just be wary - they only allow phone use outside for some reason (but sneaky me, I managed to snag a few inside. Do it for the 'gram!)

I feel like Queen B & I were both totally channeling that Miami vibe the whole night, from the outfits we chose, to the restaurants & bars we visited, to the overall feel of the night. She's pretty great at planning fun adventures when I come to town - I'm just along for the ride!
